Latest EU Legislation
De-commissioning of all HALON GAS extinguishing
systems.
Important Information
Do you currently
have a fixed fire extinguishing system installed in your business?
Is Halon Gas
used as the extinguishing medium?
Are you planning
to install a fixed fire extinguishing system in any part of your business?
If the answer to any of these questions in YES, you may find the following information
interesting. You may have a fixed fire system protecting areas such as:
computer rooms - archive storage - switch gear rooms - generators
UPS - telecom areas - control rooms
The person responsible for fire safety within your organization may already be
aware of legislation concerning the planned restriction regarding the use of
HALON.
PLAN NOW
Due to the ongoing fight against the destruction of the Earth's Ozone Layer,
legislation is planned to come into force on the 31st of December 2002 forbidding
the refilling of Halon extinguishing systems. Furthermore, when required these
systems are to be replaced with an environmentally friendly alternative by 31st
December 2003.
TAKE ACTION
Three years may sound like along time, but we at GLOBAL FIRE SYSTEMS are making
our clients aware now. By planning a phase out of HALON, your business can take
advantage of the current market prices for reclaimed gas before owing them a
costly liability. A measured appraisal of your fire protection strategy can be
undertaken.
